What Are You Looking For?
Topic: Easter Passage: Luke 19:42–19:44, Luke 23:28–23:31
On the first day of the week the disciples were mourning the loss of what they had hoped was the new life. A life where Jesus was king, and their enemies were scattered. But Jesus was dead. Their hopes were dead. What they were looking for seemed to be gone forever. But what were they looking for? What should they have been looking for?
There seems to be a continuing problem that was seen in those first days after the crucifixion and is still seen today. It’s the problem of looking for the wrong Jesus. The one who fits our idea of Christianity and our style of life. We seldom seek Jesus for what He wants for us. We know intellectually that Jesus has the best for us. So what exactly are we looking for?
- A review
- A soul-searching question
