What Is True Joy
Topic: Philippians Passage: Philippians 3:1–3:3
The third chapter of Philippians is probably the most beloved of the letter. In it Paul sets many of the cardinal doctrines of the Christian life and unveils in stirring language his own personal desire to know and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. It is interesting, however, that these doctrines are included not so much for their own sake but as a natural outgrowth of a challenge to the Christians at Philippi to be joyful. Phil. 3:1-3 suggests that joy is found to a very large degree on sound doctrine.
• Joy in suffering
• What happens when joy is gone?
1. Become a Christian
2. Righteousness and peace
3. Be in the Word
• How close are you to God?
